I visited the health site which is not sponsored by a reputable healthcare organization. It states on the site that “ The material in this site is intended to be of general informational use and is not intended to constitute medical advice, probable diagnosis, or recommended treatments. See the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy for more information.” The other following are problems I found with the site:
1. Each information source is not clearly documented
Many of the articles on the website are not referenced at all. You read an article and do not know where the information came from.
2. This site provides online diagnosis or prescribing treatment and medication avoids any direct sales of the treatments or medications being prescribed.
The site follows this but has different pharmaceutical companies advertising certain medications on their website to market their product. For example when you visit the website you see a headline for Cymbalta appear directed to people with Fibromyalgia.
3. The professionals offering medical consultation are not fully licensed and their credentials are clearly posted.
The professionals are not fully credited but rather people like you and I who have researched on a certain disease or symptom and the produce an article on it.
